Keeping village churches open is always a financial struggle. The costs of holding services and paying for both regular maintenance and the occasional major repairs need to be met out of local contributions. The most important single source of parish income is Gift Aid.
Gift Aid is a form of giving where the church is able to claim back from the Inland Revenue the 22% which givers have paid in tax. To give by Gift Aid you need, therefore, to be paying tax at the standard 22% rate. Higher tax payers can, on their annual tax returns, claim back the additional tax paid by them on their 40% rate.
If you would like to join those who give to our local churches by way of Gift Aid, and they are not all regular church goers, the forms are just a click away.
Gift Aid. There are two forms, the government required Gift Aid Form and, for those who would like the convenience of paying by standing order, a Banker’s Order form.
- The Banker's Order or other payment by bank is not a requirement. Once the Gift Aid form is signed so long as giving is covered by one of our Gift Aid envelopes or a letter it can be used to claim back tax.
- If you do wish to give by Gift Aid (and we do hope that you do!) print off the forms and send them to the Gift Aid secretary whose name and address are on the forms.
